How to play Tournée Royale

Tournée Royale is a King's Cup–style drinking card game for 2 to 8 players around a single phone: everyone draws in turn, every card triggers an action, and the kings fill the King's Cup. For adults 18 and over.

Deck
52 cards, shuffled for every game

Setting up

  1. Add 2 to 8 players, each with a name (all different). The first on the list starts, unless you shuffle the order.

  2. Pick the game mode: Classic, or one of the modes to unlock.

  3. Put an empty cup in the middle of the table: it's the King's Cup.

  4. Start the game: the 52-card deck is shuffled, and the phone goes from hand to hand.

A turn

  • The player whose turn it is taps the pile to draw: the card flips over and shows its action.
  • They do the action, then confirm: the app tells you who to hand the phone to.
  • For a duel or a category, a 15, 30 or 60-second timer can settle it.
  • An invented rule can be written down in the app: it stays on show under “Tonight’s rules”.
  • Drew a card by mistake? “Undo the draw” puts it back on the deck, before the next draw. A friend turns up mid-game? Add them: they join the rotation on the next turn.

How the cards work

Each value, from Ace to King, has its action, the same for the four cards of that value. Some make a player, a group or the whole table drink; others start a challenge: a reflex, a duel, a category, a rule to invent.

A few cards from Classic mode

  • Ace – Cheers everyone

Everyone clinks glasses and drinks a sip.

  • 9 – Category

Start a category. Anyone who can't answer on their turn drinks 3 sips.

  • 10 – New rule

Make up a new rule for the game. Break it and you drink!

  • Jack – Duel

Rock, paper, scissors with another player. The loser drinks 3 sips.

You'll find out the other cards as you play.

The King's Cup and the King of Hearts

  • With each king, the player pours some of their drink into the King's Cup.
  • The fourth king drinks the whole cup.
  • The King of Hearts counts for the cup too, and whoever draws it also finishes their drink: “The King drinks!”

The game modes

  • Classic: the traditional rules, free.
  • Soft: a gentle way to start, with fewer sips.
  • Extreme: for the bravest players.
  • Girls' Night and Guys' Night: cards made for a night out with the girls or with the guys.
  • Your own modes: up to 10, starting from an existing mode, shared with a code. That's where the King's Cup and the King of Hearts can be turned off.
  • Apart from Classic, each mode is unlocked for one game by watching a short video, or for good with the optional €1.99 Premium purchase, which also removes the ads.

End of the game

  • The game ends when the 52nd card has been played.
  • The summary recalls who drank the King's Cup, who drew the King of Hearts, the duels, the categories and the invented rules, and who drew the most cards. You can share it.
  • “Play again with the same players” starts a new game, and the “Since the first round” stats add up from one game to the next.
  • The app closed? The home screen offers “Resume game”, with the cards left.
